Is it Right for You?

You may be an appropriate candidate for Rhinoplasty for one of the following reasons:

Types of Rhinoplasty We Offer

Reduction

The majority of our patients seek reduction in the size of the nose. This might involve taking down the hump of the nose as well as reducing the volume of the nasal tip to keep the nose in balance. Once the hump is removed, the nasal bones normally need to be reposition to narrow the nose to keep things in proportion. Keeping the nose looking normal and natural looking is the key to a successful unoperated look.

Deviated Noses

Deviation of the nose is common after trauma but may occur naturally, perhaps after an injury in childhood that went unnoticed. Correction normally involves repositioning of the nasal bones and cartilage into the midline and may require additional cartilage being added to help keep the nose straight in the longer term. Such procedures are often the most challenging as the nose has a tendency to want to redeviate and a variety of complex procedures may be needed.

Augmentation

Patients with naturally flat nasal bridges or those affected by trauma or previous surgeries often benefit from nasal augmentation. This correction typically uses cartilage from the septum, ear, or rib, though specific implants may sometimes be recommended. Our expert surgeon tailors all approaches to individual needs.

Revision Rhinoplasty

The majority of our patients seek reduction in the size of the nose. This might involve taking down the hump of the nose as well as reducing the volume of the nasal tip to keep the nose in balance. Once the hump is removed, the nasal bones normally need to be reposition to narrow the nose to keep things in proportion. Keeping the nose looking normal and natural looking is the key to a successful unoperated look.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a popular surgery that is carried out to refine the shape and size of the nose and is the most performed procedure in our clinic. It is also widely recognised as the most complex of all cosmetic procedures due to the variety of techniques needed to perfect the shape of the nose and the way the nose heals after surgery.

As a result, the need for revision surgery is not uncommon. Our own revision rates are relatively low (about 5%) compared to published figures of other surgeons.

Having cosmetic surgery of any kind can be extremely daunting and to undergo corrective surgery to put right a previous rhinoplasty operation might be even more so. Revision rhinoplasty is most often performed to correct deformities caused as a result of prior surgery but may be required in patients unfortunate enough to have suffered trauma following prior rhinoplasty surgery.

Patients may unhappy with the look of the nose following their initial procedure and it can also impact upon the breathing. It is, however, critically important that the surgeon feels that any further surgery would improve the current situation and gaining trust is critical.

Why Mr Paun Is Your Best Choice For a Rhinoplasty

Mr Santdeep Paun, Consultant Nasal and Facial Plastic Surgeon is the Medical Director of Symmetry Clinic. In the NHS, he works at and was the former Head of Department at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals, one of the biggest and well respected teaching hospital trusts in the UK.

He performs complex cases there and, by reputation, am referred patients from other surgeons from within the region and other parts of the country. He is an honorary Lecturer at Queen Mary’s University, where he teaches students and is involved in clinical research with colleagues particularly In the areas of rhinoplasty and aesthetic reconstruction following facial trauma.

Concierge Experience for Overseas Patients

Due to the international reputation of our Medical Director, Mr Santdeep Paun, we have a lot of patients from abroad seeking our care.

We are able to provide highly individualised care packages for our overseas patients. Preliminary consultations can be had using Zoom or Teams or other such video messaging services although it is always difficult to assess patients properly in this way and we would insist on an eventual face to face meeting.

We can schedule such conversations to reflect time differences. If appropriate, to ensure minimising the time spent in the UK, we will book consultations and surgery in advance and can help our patients choose suitable accommodation close to our hospitals.

It is very rare to need specialist overnight care for our patients outside of the hospital environment, but this can be arranged if required to suit an individual’s needs. Most patients can undergo surgery and go home within an approximate 2 week period, but we can advise on the time required to stay in the UK on a case to case basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Rhinoplasty painful?

Most patients experience minimal discomfort rather than acute pain following rhinoplasty. Mr. Paun employs advanced techniques to minimize trauma, and our exclusive post-operative care protocol includes personalized pain management. Many of our distinguished patients report being pleasantly surprised by the comfort of their recovery experience.

A rhinoplasty procedure with Mr. Paun typically takes between 2-3 hours, though complex revision cases may require additional time. This precise timeframe allows for the meticulous attention to detail that distinguishes Mr. Paun’s artistic approach from standard rhinoplasty procedures.
While rhinoplasty is considered a significant surgical procedure, in the hands of London’s premier rhinoplasty specialist, it becomes a refined art form. Mr. Paun’s exceptional technique, developed over 15+ years, transforms what others might view as “major surgery” into a precisely choreographed procedure with predictable recovery and extraordinary results.
Recovery follows a carefully managed timeline: initial swelling subsides within 10-14 days, allowing return to social activities. Subtle refinement continues for several months, with final artistic results evident after approximately one year. Mr. Paun’s exclusive patients receive personalized recovery protocols that often accelerate this timeline.
Mr. Paun personally evaluates each prospective patient and may recommend postponing surgery for those with unrealistic expectations, certain medical conditions, or who have not reached skeletal maturity. Our commitment to exceptional outcomes occasionally means declining patients whose goals would compromise Mr. Paun’s artistic standards or patient safety.
Septoplasty addresses purely functional issues within the nasal septum to improve breathing, while rhinoplasty encompasses both aesthetic refinement and functional correction. Mr. Paun is distinguished for his mastery in combining these approaches, creating harmony between appearance and function that few surgeons can achieve.
Most of our distinguished patients return home the same day, though our exclusive partnerships with London’s premier medical facilities allow for overnight stays when preferred. International patients often appreciate our optional private recovery accommodation arrangements with dedicated nursing care.
Purely aesthetic rhinoplasty is typically not covered by insurance. However, Mr. Paun’s expertise in functional correction means that portions of procedures addressing breathing difficulties may qualify for coverage. Our dedicated concierge team assists with all insurance documentation for qualifying patients.
Investment for Mr. Paun’s artistic rhinoplasty begins at £11,500, with complex revision cases starting from £13,500. This reflects the exceptional expertise, personalized care, and extraordinary results that distinguish Symmetry Clinic as London’s premier rhinoplasty destination. Payment plans are available through our partner hospitals.

Mr. Paun adheres to a strict policy of recommending rhinoplasty only for patients who have reached full maturity at age 18 or older. Only in exceptional cases involving significant functional impairments or severe structural abnormalities might he consider evaluating younger patients. There is no upper age limit for those in good health seeking refinement.

All rhinoplasty procedures are performed under general anesthesia administered by our consultant anaesthetists who work exclusively with facial surgery patients. Most patients return home the same day, though overnight stays can be arranged for those who prefer additional monitoring or travel from international locations.

Mr. Paun employs a refined approach that includes a discreet external cast for one week and typically uses dissolving internal sutures that eliminate the need for removal. His advanced techniques often avoid internal packing altogether, enhancing comfort during recovery—a distinction that sets apart his artistic approach.
Mr. Paun predominantly uses dissolving sutures that eliminate the need for removal. In the rare instances where non-dissolving sutures are required for precision in complex cases, removal is a quick, painless process performed during your post-operative appointment by Mr. Paun himself.
Most patients return to desk work within 10-14 days. Social engagements can typically be resumed after 2 weeks with minimal visible signs of surgery. Light exercise may begin after 3 weeks, while contact sports and activities requiring significant exertion should be avoided for 6 weeks to protect your investment in refinement.
To protect the refined nasal structure, we recommend avoiding pressure on the bridge for 6 weeks. Our exclusive patients receive custom protocols for taping lightweight glasses or using specialized supports that prevent pressure on the nose while maintaining your appearance during the healing period.
Direct sun exposure should be avoided for at least 3 months as the skin over the newly sculpted nasal structure is particularly sensitive. When our distinguished patients return to sun exposure, we provide guidance on specialized sun protection to safeguard their investment in refinement.
Heat and steam environments should be avoided for at least 6 weeks following your procedure, as they can increase swelling and potentially affect the refined results. Mr. Paun provides each patient with personalized recovery protocols that include precise guidance on resuming all activities.
